The international Plant Sciences course deals with fundamental and applied aspects of plant sciences. The aim is to train students in the basic areas of plant sciences and then to integrate this knowledge into various specialized scientific areas. Students take courses from the main categories: development of plant cells and ultrastructure, plant biochemistry, physiology and molecular biology as well as plant systematics and biodiversity. In addition, there is a large selection of laboratory courses in the following areas: plant physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology; Transgenic plants; Biological diversity, systematics and evolution of plants; Plant cell biology; Plant biotechnology; Paleobotany; Ecology and nature conservation.

The Plant Sciences course cooperates with non-university institutions such as the Jülich Research Center or the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research in Cologne and the Universities of Düsseldorf and Cologne.

Entry Requirement 

  • Examination regulations (legally binding information)
  • University degree (domestic or foreign) in a relevant subject
  • English skills (language level GeR B2)
  • Minimum grade 2.7 or country-specific equivalent
  • Specific modules: Experience in practical laboratory work (20 ECTS)
