The French subject in the Master of Education course deals with French language practice and French literature, linguistics and cultural studies. The subject-specific content includes, on the one hand, deepening French language practice - both oral and written language usage is expanded and translations are made in a subject-specific and sociocultural context. On the other hand, content from the fields of literature and linguistics is conveyed. The students get to know a variety of methods and theories of linguistic and literary research and practice using them independently and exemplarily. While the focus of the Bachelor’s program is on the two specialist subjects, the Master of Education’s focus is more on educational sciences and subject didactics. The students get to know language teaching and language learning theories and deal with the didactics and methodology of communicative foreign language teaching with special consideration of linguistic, cultural and other relevant forms of heterogeneity of learning groups.
Two subjects are studied in the teaching post for grammar schools and comprehensive schools. In addition to French, the students also take a second subject and the educational sciences. The practical semester is a central component of the course.
