The subject of Catholic religious studies in the Master of Education course deals scientifically with the content and tradition of the Christian faith. The question about God, which is also formulated as a question about human beings, is an essential part of the course. The students deepen their knowledge in the specialist subjects of biblical, historical, systematic and practical theology.
While the focus of the Bachelor’s program is on the two specialist subjects, the Master of Education’s focus is more on educational sciences and subject didactics. The five poles of the basic religious didactic concept of elementarization (elementary structures, truths, approaches, experiences and forms of learning) are applied to exegetical or church-historical topics. The students look at the subject-specific theology and teaching-learning processes in religious education with special attention to inclusion-oriented issues. As a result, the practical parts of the teacher training course are also accompanied and the specific challenges of religious education are dealt with.
Two subjects are studied in the teaching post for grammar schools and comprehensive schools. In addition to Catholic religious studies, students also take a second subject and educational sciences. The practical semester is a central component of the course.
