Overview

Overview

The subject of physics in the Master of Education course aims to record conditions and processes in nature on a quantitative and qualitative level and to describe them using generally applicable laws. The main focus is on experimental physics and theoretical physics. In experimental physics, based on experimental observations, conclusions are drawn about the underlying laws of nature - from mechanics to particle physics. The students learn this, for example, through a laboratory internship with experiments on atomic and solid-state physics as well as nuclear and elementary particle physics. Theoretical Physics, however, uses a few axioms to describe the interplay of bodies and forces on macroscopic and microscopic scales in a logical-mathematical way.

While the focus of the Bachelor’s program is on the two specialist subjects, the Master of Education’s focus is more on educational sciences and subject didactics. In didactic and educational modules, the students deal with current topics related to school lessons. The use of demonstration and student experiments are learned and specific questions are dealt with that are important for work in the school.

Two subjects are studied in the teaching post for grammar schools and comprehensive schools. In addition to physics, the students also take a second subject and educational sciences. The practical semester is a central component of the course.
