Evangelical theology is the reflective and scientifically responsible speech about God from an evangelical perspective. It deals with the importance of the Christian faith in dialogue with other sciences and taking up their methods. This is illuminated as a possibility of understanding oneself and the world - in the sense of theology as hermeneutics - as part of the culture of a society or as a criterion for the practice of a religious community.
Protestant theology is divided into the five main disciplines of the Old Testament, New Testament, Church History, Systematic Theology and Practical Theology.
In the course of study, scientific and professional knowledge about Christianity as a possibility of human interpretation, lifestyle and values ??as well as a formative factor of occidental culture and society is imparted. The focus is on the one hand the historical origins and developments of Christianity, on the other hand the conditions, possibilities and effects of religious and ecclesiastical thought and action in contemporary society - in Germany and in a global context.
