In the linguistic subsidiary subject Indonesian, three basic modules are offered in which the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing are taught. Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia / Language of Indonesia), the national language of the Republic of Indonesia, is one of the most widely spoken languages ??in the world. From a linguistic point of view, "Bahasa Indonesia" is the Malay language, which is also the national language of Malaysia and the state of Brunei Darussalam. Indonesian or Malay is by far the most important language in Southeast Asia.
As a rule, students have no prior knowledge of this language at the beginning of their studies. The accompanying subject therefore introduces the basics of grammar and communication in everyday life and prepares in higher levels for dealing with academic reading, which is necessary to understand the spiritual life in Indonesia.
The subsidiary subject Indonesian is to be combined with the core subject Asian Studies: Profile Southeast Asian Studies (Vietnamese can be chosen as an alternative) and can be combined (as an option from the language range of the Institute for Oriental and Asian Studies) with the Profile Comparative Religious Studies.
In the form of the basic modules, the first three semesters serve to acquire basic grammatical knowledge and communication skills.
This subject must be combined with another subject:
HZB (e.g. Abitur)
German language skills
Intercultural communication, intercultural management, international development cooperation / peace and conflict research, international educational work (adult education, language courses, etc.), politics (policy advice), culture (protection / maintenance / management of global cultural assets, cultural institutions / management, museums, etc.), tourism (Long-distance / educational / cultural tourism), journalism, science (teaching / research at universities, research institutions, etc.)
Incidentally, possible occupational fields correspond strongly with the core subject.
