The question of God, which is also formulated as a question of man, is at the center of the study of Catholic theology, the aim of which is to deal scientifically with the content and tradition of the Christian faith. First, theological and philosophical basics are imparted on which the courses in the four theological subject groups (Biblical, Historical, Systematic and Practical Theology) are based. The doctrine of faith is placed in the context of history and society as well as current issues of the present. Questions of ecumenism, dialogue with other religions or other sciences are always the subject of the course.
The Bible and church traditions provide the existential textual basis for studying theology. Knowledge of the "ancient languages" (Latin, Greek, Hebrew) is required for studying the sources of these basic texts. The respective language requirements depend on the degree you are aiming for and your future professional orientation.
