Overview

Biology is the science of living nature. She describes and researches manifestations of living systems and their internal processes as well as their relationships with one another.

In this diverse science, botany, zoology and microbiology are classic sub-disciplines, while modern areas include, for example, behavioral research, genetics, immunobiology or ecology. In addition, there are links with other natural sciences, which can be seen in the subjects of biochemistry, biomedicine or agricultural biology.

During the course, the basics in all sub-areas of biology, including the natural sciences, physics, chemistry and mathematics, are created. There are also continuous practical exercises that impart skills in independent work in laboratories. In Bonn, the teaching and research focus is on organismic biology, plant sciences, neurobiology, molecular biotechnology, molecular biomedicine and microbiology. During the course there is the possibility of a specific focus on one of these areas. In addition to the specialist training, additional skills such as working with specialist literature or the presentation of scientific results can be learned.
