Overview

Overview

The course in Law and Economics starts at the interface between law and economics (English: Law and Economics). The economic analysis of law examines the effect of legal rules on human behavior.

The aim is to compare the actual effect of a law with the effect intended by the legislature. This method is intended to assess whether a standard can actually achieve the goals it pursues. Such an assessment is always important when the creation of new norms or the interpretation of existing norms can or should influence the behavior of people.

The course therefore consists of the fields of law and legal economics. In jurisprudential courses, in-depth knowledge of the various core areas of law (civil, criminal and public law) is imparted and the application of legal norms to specific issues is learned. This includes, for example, the ability to create case solutions in the form of expert opinions. There are also basic economic courses in mathematics, statistics and microeconomics. In the bridging events you learn how the economic methodology is applied to legal issues (legal economics). The language of instruction is German.
