The accompanying subject Persian imparts communication skills as well as competence in dealing with Persian-language source texts. The basis for this is a profound, communication-oriented training in modern Persian. Building on this, from the third semester onwards, the skills required for an academic career in dealing with modern and classic source texts are taught.
The accompanying subject comprises three practical language exercises in which the basic skills in speaking, listening comprehension, writing and reading modern and classical Persian language are taught. Pragmatic and communicative skills are promoted and go hand in hand with a linguistic training appropriate to the academic level. Furthermore, the course leads to academic work on Persian-language source texts. The language courses are very practice-oriented, so that passive and active language acquisition are equally encouraged. In doing so, both literary and historical research on Persian-language sources is worked towards.
