Celtic languages ??are still spoken today in Ireland, Wales, Scotland and Brittany, and there are some “extinct” Celtic languages ??(Manx, Cornish) being revived. Celtology deals with the languages, literatures and cultures of the Celtic-speaking countries and regions from ancient times to the present.

In this course of study, the preoccupation with the Celtic languages ??- as a carrier medium for cultural certificates - has top priority. Based on the languages, other cultural expressions are examined and examined. The focus of the subject is on the literatures and cultures of modern times. On the one hand, the basics of Celtic history and methods of Celtology are acquired; on the other hand, selected modern and / or medieval Celtic languages ??can be learned. The languages ??Irish Gaelic and Scottish Gaelic as well as Cymrian (Welsh) are currently taught in Bonn.

Regular film evenings and excursions make teaching content tangible and give examples of the living culture of the Celts and their regions.
