The auxiliary subject Arabic, compulsory for the profile Islamic Studies / Arabic Studies in the core subject Asian Studies, serves to acquire solid basic knowledge of Arabic in spoken and written, with the focus initially on the modern high-level language. In addition to the reading skills required for source studies, great importance is also attached to the development of auditory-oral language skills and skills in written text production. 

The linguistic basics for the scientific text-context analysis, which is based on Arabic-language sources of various origins, are acquired. These basics enable you to express yourself and communicate in accordance with technical expertise, scientific and linguistic standards (also in the foreign language). The profile-defining course contents are the introduction to the Arabic script, the teaching of the essential basics of Arabic grammar, the teaching of a basic vocabulary of modern standard Arabic, the acquisition of elementary skills in written and oral text reception / production (reading, writing / listening, speaking), as well as an introduction to at least one selected main Arabic.
