Overview

Overview

Biology is the science of living nature. It describes and examines the manifestations of living systems, their relationships to one another and the processes that take place in them.

In addition to the so-called “classic” sub-disciplines such as botany, zoology or microbiology, a broad spectrum of other biological disciplines has expanded over time - such as molecular biology, genetics, immunobiology, evolutionary science, behavioral research, neurobiology, cell biology, ecology or biotechnology to name just a few. Furthermore, there are more and more sub-disciplines that combine with other natural sciences: biochemistry, biomathematics, bioinformatics, human biology, biomedicine, bionics, agricultural biology, etc.

The Department of Biology at the University of Bonn is characterized by a wide range of topics, which is reflected in the profile of the bachelor's degree.
