Master’s degree in Psychology, the students themselves decide which areas they want to deepen. The focus of the course is on industrial, organizational and business psychology . It is scientifically-methodical and interdisciplinary-technically oriented. The course enables independent, scientifically founded psychological work in the research and application fields, in which the competence, functionality and wellbeing of the human being must also be matched to requirements that can result from the knowledge of engineering and economic disciplines for the individual.
Knowledge of psychological research and work techniques from an expanded basic understanding is acquired, implemented in a modeling and practical manner and evaluated in comparison to alternative approaches from psychology and other disciplines.
Please note the information provided by the Institute of Psychologyon the reform of the Psychotherapists Act as of September 1st, 2020: Students who start a new course in the 2020/21 winter semester can only obtain a license to practice medicine via Bachelor and Master courses that meet the requirements of the 2020 license regulations. The current Bachelor's degree in Psychology does not meet the legal requirements for future psychotherapist training. Students who start the bachelor's degree in psychology in the winter semester 2020/21 and possibly complete it here will not have access to the new psychotherapy master's degree. Training as a psychotherapist is therefore excluded. The TU Darmstadt will also not offer an approbation course in "Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy" in the future.
There are many career opportunities for graduates in psychology. They find employment in the health sector, in business, administration as well as research and teaching. There they work, for example, in the fields of clinical psychology and psychotherapy, work and organizational psychology, forensic psychology, legal psychology, market and opinion research or basic and application research. Other psychologists choose the path to self-employment by setting up their own practice or offering their services and products in other forms on the open market.
