At the M.Sc. Physics focuses on the mathematical and scientific deepening of the subject. The course includes in-depth and special lectures, courses from the field of experimental and theoretical physics as well as from a supplementary subject outside of physics, typically from mathematics, natural or engineering sciences. To expand the range of courses, students can choose interdisciplinary courses from the entire course catalog of the Technical University of Darmstadt. A one-year research phase complements this broad spectrum.

The range of activities of physics graduates is constantly expanding as a result of technical progress, but also as a result of new, e.g. Today, physicists work, among other things, in basic and industrial research, in application-related development, on planning and testing tasks in industry and administration, in consulting and sales, in banking, in politics and management and in academic teaching. In various fields of activity, innovative problem solutions are required and novel questions are examined. In order to meet the requirements for such tasks, a sufficiently broad basic knowledge of experimental and theoretical physics and the mathematics required for this is required.
