The international and interdisciplinary course M.Sc. International Cooperation in Urban Development deals with rapid urbanization processes and the associated challenges.
The internationally oriented course is part of the Mundus Urbano master’s program, which is offered jointly by four European universities. While courses are attended at TU Darmstadt in the first two semesters, the second half of the course includes a specialization in an urban planning subject at one of the four program universities.\
While the bachelor’s degree focuses on the fundamentals of the subject, the master’s degree that builds on it serves to deepen scientific knowledge and engage with the subject in a research-related manner. More than the bachelor's degree, a master's degree enables and demands the setting of one's own specialist areas of focus .
The Master of Science International Cooperation in Urban Development course offers a solid training and competence profile that qualifies both for further academic studies and facilitates entry into attractive positions in the practice-oriented job market.
We therefore recommend completing a master’s degree.
Graduates of the Master of Science International Cooperation in Urban Development encounter a broad field of work with a strong demand for specialists for international projects in the field of urban development. Possible employers are institutions such as international cooperation organizations, city building authorities, research institutes and consulting firms that deal with international finance, development aid, settlements, slum rehabilitation and infrastructure development
In addition to studying, it is important to gain your own practical experience in relevant institutions at an early stage, to demonstrate your general suitability for practice and to establish contacts. The prospect of a good position is increased by the willingness to move professionally, also abroad. A good command of the English language is an indispensable prerequisite, especially when it comes to international orientation.
