The B.Sc. Medical technology is carried out jointly by the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at TU Darmstadt in cooperation with the Department of Medicine at Goethe University Frankfurt. Modules are taught at both the TU Darmstadt and the Goethe University.

The proportion of electrical engineering and information technology in medicine is 80 to 20 . By the end of the 2nd semester, a minimum of 20 CP of the course must be achieved; of this, completed modules amounting to 14 CP from area “A basic area of ??electrical engineering and information technology” must be proven.

The course contains three compulsory internships : electrical engineering and information technology; Medical technology internship; Clinical internship.

General note: With the Bachelor of Science, students obtain their first professional qualification. However, the Master of Science degree is the standard qualification at TU Darmstadt. We therefore recommend completing a master’s degree.

Graduates of the medical technology course will be able to participate in the planning and implementation of complex, innovative mechatronic, electrical and information technology components and systems in the field of medical technology on a scientific basis. This means that the graduates can be employed professionally in development as well as in sales as well as in the care and maintenance of highly complex medical devices. Medical technology research and industry, health care and public authorities can be named as potential employers.
