Overview

The master's degree in “Molecular and Cellular Biology” provides you with technical and methodological training in sub-areas of biology with a focus on molecular and cell biology. In the first year, you will be taught basic knowledge that is subject-specific and professional in character. The second year serves to deepen acquired specialist knowledge and to familiarize yourself with the subject of the six-month master's thesis.
The course is research-oriented. Accordingly, the training takes place in an active research environment, which in Marburg is characterized by international collaborations, special research areas and research associations, graduate colleagues, and close collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology.

With the successful completion of the Master’s course "Molecular and Cellular Biology" you can prove that you can work on demanding and extensive tasks in current research contexts in molecular and cell biology. Graduates are thus qualified for biology-related professions in biological and medical research (clinics, industry, university) as well as for positions in offices or other public institutions. With the appropriate orientation, it is also possible to take the step into self-employment. Successful completion of the master’s degree qualifies for a doctorate.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Relevant bachelor's degree in the natural sciences or comparable domestic or foreign university degree.

Admission is granted to those who can prove at least 60 credit points (CP) in subjects that can be found in the range of basic biological, advanced and advanced modules of the bachelor's degree in biology at the Philipps University of Marburg.

Proof of knowledge of English according to language level B2 of the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ??of the Council of Europe"
