The application and project-related studies in the master’s course in "Business Informatics" lead to a specialization in practical informatics, business informatics and business administration.
The courses in the field of business informatics are primarily offered by lecturers with practical experience. With a two-semester project work integrated into the course, this leads to a high degree of practical relevance in the course.

Focus areas
The master’s degree expands and deepens competencies in the areas of business informatics, computer science and business administration. You can adapt the weighting of these areas to your individual interests.

In addition to various advanced modules from the fields of computer science and business informatics, e.g. on cloud computing, IT security or process modeling, there is also a large selection of business administration modules from the three main areas of "Accounting and Finance", "Market-Oriented Management" or "Innovation and Information" Available. In addition, there is the option of choosing practical modules, particularly in the area of ??business informatics.



Proof of completion of a specific bachelor's degree in "Business Informatics" or evidence of a comparable domestic or foreign professional university degree.

In addition to the bachelor's degree in business informatics, a bachelor's degree in computer science entitles the holder to access if a total of at least 42 credit points have been completed in modules with business informatics and business administration content or competencies. Of these, at least 18 credit points should have been obtained from modules in business informatics and business administration.

In addition, a bachelor's degree in business administration entitles the holder to access if at least 42 modules in the fields of computer science and business informatics have been acquired. In doing so, proof of competencies must be provided that corresponds to those of the following modules of the Marburg Bachelor's degree in Business Informatics:

  • object oriented programing
  • Software engineering
  • Basics of business informatics

The university degree qualifying for a profession must be passed with an overall grade of 7.9 grade points or better or at least a grade of 3.0 (in accordance with Section 28 of the General Provisions).

If one of the above-mentioned qualifications is not yet available, a transcript of records with a calculated average grade based on at least 80% of the credit points required for the bachelor’s degree can be submitted.

The examination board can combine the admission with the condition that additional study achievements and / or examinations of a maximum of 30 credit points are achieved. In this case, the course can be extended accordingly.

Proof of course-specific knowledge and skills:

Knowledge of the English language according to  language level B2 of  the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ??of the Council of Europe" is recommended. 

Approval mode:

Direct admission is granted if the admission requirements are fully met.
