The bachelor's degree in "Media Studies" is an analytical and theoretical degree with a focus on cultural studies. 
It deals with the audiovisual media of film (including photography), television (including radio), computers, the Internet and multimedia configurations and examines their themes, forms and forms of expression. Thus, the aesthetics, history and theory of audiovisual media are the most important work areas of the course.
It is aimed at students who have a pronounced interest in the various forms of media and who have an above-average talent for perceiving and verbalising audiovisual structures.
The focus of the "Media Studies" course is in the areas of film, television and digital (network) media; so can z. For example, you can choose between different focal points: theory, history, aesthetics and pragmatics of audiovisual mass media. The focus of the "Media Studies" course is in the areas of film, television and digital (network) media.



General higher education entrance qualification or subject-related higher education entrance

qualification 1 or technical college entrance qualification or master craftsman's examination as well as comparable qualifications in professional advancement training or professionally qualified persons

Course-specific knowledge and skills to be proven prior to admission:

Knowledge of English at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ??is required.

Knowledge of another modern foreign language is strongly recommended. This simplifies the development of specialist literature and enables a better understanding of international media historical developments.

Building on the skills acquired during the course, various fields of activity are conceivable for later professional practice. Which professional direction you ultimately go in depends crucially on the practical experience you have gained during your studies as part of the compulsory internship as well as outside of university courses: be it through voluntary activities in the cultural sector, additional voluntary internships in media practice or holiday jobs in Companies.

The following fields of activity are possible:

  • Editorial support of audiovisual products in radio and television stations, in production companies, companies and institutions
  • Media journalism, media writing, film and television criticism, science journalism
  • Cultural management, planning of festivals, series of events and events
  • Media advice
  • Educational work in municipalities, associations, companies, academies and institutions
