The mathematics bachelor's degree in Marburg is based on a clearly elaborated study program. The aim is to impart a broad theoretical basis of mathematical knowledge in connection with the study of a freely selectable minor. First of all, the basic concepts and ideas are conveyed and practiced in order to gradually advance to more complex and abstract contexts. The beginners' lecture "Fundamentals of Mathematics" makes it easier for you to get started with university mathematics and introduces you as a freshman to topics that are important in all areas of mathematics (e.g. proof techniques, propositional theory and set theory).
Special courses and an internship give you the opportunity to acquire interdisciplinary and personal key skills. Practical relevance and topicality are combined with a scientifically sound education, whereby mainly mathematical and scientific and less engineering methods are used. You can choose between the main areas of algebra, analysis, geometry, optimization, stochastics, numerics and discrete mathematics.
