The master's degree in architecture and urban planning combines numerous subject areas from a broad spectrum of artistic, technical and scientific disciplines. The course focuses on a comprehensive education and networked thinking in order to be able to recognize and analyze complex issues and to develop solutions independently. Through the course you will become independent thinking and acting planners who are familiar with all aspects of building culture.
In the master’s degree, you deepen the skills acquired with the bachelor’s degree and supplement these with an individual specialization from the faculty's range of topics. With the major in urban planning, you can also acquire the prerequisite for inclusion in the urban planner's list.
The prerequisite is a degree in a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) of at least six semesters in architecture and urban planning or in a degree with a closely related content. You also need to upload a portfolio with work samples. The master’s examination is a professional qualification that is the basis for admission to the German Chamber of Architects. In addition, the Master's degree (M.Sc.) entitles the holder to do a doctorate and opens up access to higher administrative service (2nd state examination in building construction / urban development). Since the M.Sc. Architecture and urban planning fully meet the international standards (EU, UIA, UNESCO) for professional recognition, so there are also unrestricted international career prospects.
