Overview

Architecture and urban planning are the most public of all arts - you cannot avoid the built environment. Architects and urban planners are responsible for the beauty and diversity of our built environment . Your task is to create a future worth living in by maintaining and upgrading urban spaces and landscapes. In doing so, you react to constant change and develop ideas for a world of tomorrow. The course is accordingly broad : design and construction, town planning and planning, representation and design as well as building technology, historical, theoretical, social and economic basics are central topics.

What Should I bring ?

  • Spatial imagination and aesthetic sensibility  are essential requirements.
  • An interest in current cultural, political and social issues is just as important .
  • Above all, however, a great passion for architecture is required .
  • You should be curious to learn about new technological advances and processes .
  • In addition, it is helpful to be open-minded towards the complex aspects and relationships that interact in architecture and urban planning.

What can I expect From my Studies

  • Studies at a broad architecture faculty: The integrative teaching enables comprehensive learning of architecture and urban planning. Choices from five subject areas and sixteen institutes allow deepening according to one's own interests.
  • Possibility of more international studies: As part of the Bachelor [international +] degree  , students can acquire a certificate that proves their skills in an international environment.
  • In teaching at the university, in addition to the usual technical basics, the focus is on design , conceptual approaches and theoretical discussion . The FH, on the other hand, is practice-oriented and has a more technical focus.
  • Students have the opportunity  to study a major in urban development / urban planning .
