Overview

The IT systems engineering bachelor's degree is offered by the joint digital engineering faculty of the University of Potsdam and the Hasso Plattner Institute. In addition to the basics of classic computer science, the course also provides an understanding of networked IT systems and their planning, development and continuation. The focus of the training is on various modeling techniques, programming techniques, software architectures and software base systems. In the bachelor's program, students can set their own priorities in different areas of specialization. A special feature of the course is the strong practical relevance through an integrated bachelor's project in the fifth and sixth semesters. Specific tasks from industry and society are processed. The students learn Developing structured and targeted software solutions and managing complex IT systems with distributed roles in the team. Important key competencies and professional field-specific qualifications that are relevant for the successful management of complex IT projects are taught in the soft skills colloquium and in various courses on entrepreneurship and design thinking topics.
