ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

For a successful degree it is important that you already have basic language skills. Therefore, the entry requirement for the bachelor's degree in Polish is the passing of a language proficiency test or proof of equivalent language skills. If you do not have the necessary language skills, you can acquire them in a one-year orientation phase at the University of Potsdam. You can find detailed information on the subject of Polish as a teacher as well as on the orientation course eligible for BAföG on the website of the Institute for Slavic Studies .

After all, it can be helpful for your decision to study and for the course itself if you have already gained experience in dealing with children and young people and are motivated to face the challenges of the teaching profession.

CAREER PROSPECTS

The teacher training course in Polish enables you to design realistic and scientifically sound language lessons. To do this, you will acquire the necessary philological specialist knowledge, subject-specific methods of imparting knowledge and practical language skills. You will acquire basic knowledge and skills to analyze interrelationships and convey them in school.

With the teaching profession-related bachelor's degree, you acquire the academic degree of the Bachelor of Education. This represents a first professional academic degree, which, however, does not yet qualify for a teaching position. A master’s degree and preparatory service (legal clerkship) still have to be completed before the dream job of a teacher is achieved. Due to the professional and pedagogical skills acquired during the course, this bachelor's degree also offers career prospects outside of the teaching profession, for example in institutions of the cultural sector, adult education, in political organizations and associations, with tour operators or in commercial enterprises.
