The teaching degree-related bachelor's degree in the subjects of mathematics and physics in conjunction is divided into course-specific modules in mathematics and its didactics, physics and its didactics, and educational science, including inclusion-pedagogical and didactic basics.The subject of mathematics is one of the central school subjects in terms of its importance and, due to the high number of hours, represents a core area of ??school education. As one of the oldest natural sciences, physics also has a high priority in school education. Accordingly, teachers are needed who, on the basis of solid specialist knowledge and pedagogical and subject didactic skills, teach the subjects of mathematics and physics professionally and with enthusiasm.Mathematics and physics can only be taught by someone who has a good command of the subject matter and the methods to be used and who can view them from a higher point of view. The specialist course therefore goes well beyond the school level and forms the focus of the entire course. In addition, there are various connections that can be made between the subjects, which this course prepares for in a special way.In the subject of mathematics, you will learn skills in the basic mathematical disciplines such as analysis, algebra and stochastics, but also the knowledge and skills in subject didactics necessary for successful teaching.In the mathematics didactics module, you will learn for individual subject areas how they can be taught in school, for which the specialist knowledge from the first semesters is essential. In order to be able to establish further connections between school mathematics and university mathematics, you deepen these links independently in the project module "Extended specialist knowledge for the school context".The technical focus of the physics modules is experimental physics with a focus on energy, time, space, field, light, optics and thermodynamics, quanta and the structure of matter.The module of combined physics and physics didactics has a practical character. Here you will be introduced to selected physical school experiments, where you will learn to plan them based on didactics and to carry them out independently. You use research results from physics didactics and learning psychology in the planning, implementation, observation and reflection of lessons, you evaluate your first teaching experiences against the background of your theoretical knowledge and use this as a starting point for reflection and further development of your own skills.In the field of educational sciences, the focus is on studying and critically reflecting on current pedagogical approaches and theories with the aim of developing a competency profile specific to the secondary level. They address a broad spectrum of application-oriented educational and didactic forms of action, acquire the diagnostic tools to be able to evaluate findings from empirical teaching research and the knowledge necessary for the selection and design of learning materials.


The bachelor's degree is modular. Within the modules, the course content is thematically summarized in different study and teaching forms. A fixed number of credit points as well as certain study and examination achievements must be achieved in each module.

The teaching-related bachelor's degree comprises a total of 180 credit points (CP). This includes 138 credit points for the combined study of mathematics and physics. You can find its main content in the overview below

For the mathematics and physics teacher training course, you should have a high level of interest in and enjoyment of the subjects. The ability to think logically, ambition and perseverance are also good prerequisites for solving complex mathematical and physical tasks. A bridging course in mathematics offered by the university before the start of studies offers the opportunity to refresh school knowledge and to facilitate the transition to university.

If you are aiming for a teacher training course, you should be motivated to face the daily demands of the teaching profession. For this reason, previous experience in dealing with children and adolescents can be helpful both for the decision to study and for the course itself.
