Overview

The bachelor's degree in English and American Studies at the University of Potsdam provides a well-founded overview of the literature, culture and language of the Anglophone world in the past and present. Linguistics deals with the system of the English language and its use in communication and asks how these linguistic structures work, vary and change historically. The subjects of literary and cultural studies are the history, literature and culture of the English-speaking world. In addition to these specialist areas, the course includes offers for language practice, in which the knowledge of English is deepened and its application in academic and professional areas is practiced. In addition, internships and / or study visits in an English-speaking country are recommended, which should be planned for the period after the fourth semester. The English / American studies course is offered at the University of Potsdam as part of a two-subject bachelor's degree . It can be studied both as a first and a second subject and combined with another subject of your choice, e.g. from the range of other philologies or economics.
