Political education is a necessary component of a free and open society and has developed into an independent field of activity over the course of the history of the Federal Republic of Germany. In order to be able to work effectively in this field, thorough and up-to-date specialist knowledge in the areas of politics, contemporary history, media and economics is required, as is a high level of methodological and didactic competence.

The continuing education Master’s degree in Political and Historical Studies is offered by the University of Bonn in close cooperation with political foundations, museums, media organizations and institutions involved in political and historical education and mediation. It is interdisciplinary between the subjects political science, history and media studies. The course is aimed at university graduates who have at least one year of relevant professional experience and would like to gain further qualifications in a practice-oriented and scientifically sound way.

Entry Requirement

  • Examination regulations (legally binding information)
  • University degree (domestic or foreign) in a relevant subject (at least 180 ECTS)
  • German language skills (language level GeR C1)
  • English skills (language level GeR B2)
  • At least one year of relevant professional experience
