Natural hazards such as floods and earthquakes, epidemics of disease, the consequences of climate change and demographic development as well as the political and economic effects of international crises endanger and impair the lives of our people. Adequate preparedness and the professional management of disasters that have occurred are becoming increasingly important and go hand in hand with an increase in the requirements for education and training of experts in disaster risk reduction, management and follow-up.
The advanced master's degree in Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Management (KaVoMa) is offered by the University of Bonn in cooperation with the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Aid (BBK). It is interdisciplinary and imparts key skills that are useful and necessary for sustainable disaster risk management and thus sustainable disaster management. The course is aimed at university graduates who have at least three years of relevant professional experience and would like to gain scientifically sound further qualifications.
