In the Geochemistry / Petrology course, the research focus is on the endogenous processes of the earth. The development of the earth from the formation of the planet through the movement of the continental plates to current volcanism is of central importance.
In order to provide students of geochemistry / petrology with a subject-specific qualification for their further career, modules with the following methodological focuses are offered: geochemistry, petrology, mineralogy / crystallography. By selecting and focusing on this broad, subject-specific spectrum, students are able to create an individual study profile that corresponds to their personal interests, skills and professional plans. The course includes a small compulsory area that is offered for all three geoscientific master’s courses (paleontology, geology and geochemistry / petrology) together. The joint events promote professional exchange between students.
Applied geology (groundwater resources, development aid, environmental protection, geohazards), ministries / offices (environmental sector), geological services, raw material exploration / use and materials (industry), public relations, museums, science (teaching / research at universities, research institutions, etc.)
