History is devoted to the methodical research of historical events, people, objects, structures and processes. The history master’s course particularly provides research-oriented, in-depth and expanded knowledge of German, European and non-European history from antiquity to the present.
The course is subdivided into a total of nine different subject areas and enables students to consistently develop their profiles from the first semester onwards. The focus can be placed on one of the following areas: General History, Ancient History, Medieval History, Basic Historical Sciences, Early Modern Times and Rhenish Regional History, Modern History, Eastern European History, Constitutional, Social and Economic History or International History of Modern Times. As part of the chosen subject area, students have a large choice between different courses in order to be able to intensively shape their own study profile.
