The unique profile of the Master’s degree in German-French Studies / Études franco-allemandes at the Universities of Bonn and Paris Sorbonne results from the binational philological orientation. The two main subjects French and German studies are studied with a focus on and in equal proportions.
The German-French studies convey in-depth philological and cultural studies special and methodological knowledge on an interdisciplinary and intercultural level. The contrasting orientation of the course with German and French philology on the one hand and studying at a French university (1st year of study) and at a German university (2nd year of study) familiarize students with the methodological differences between the two scientific nations. The well-founded literary and linguistic training enables an independent, reflective and methodologically adequate way of working on central subjects of the two sciences. An individual professional profile and focus - in the sense of a scientific or professional qualification - is possible and desirable. The graduates receive the master’s certificate as a double diploma from both universities.
