Globalization and migration processes lead to an increasing need for scientifically qualified communication experts. The course in language and communication in the globalized media society reacts to these challenges and offers a corresponding academic education that qualifies students for a variety of communication-oriented professional fields in a multilingual and culturally heterogeneous environment.
The course combines linguistic, cultural and media studies theoretical approaches with perspectives in intercultural communication and multilingualism research. Students are prepared to be able to use verbal and written forms of communication specifically (appropriate to the target audience, media and situation). The aim is to impart differentiated linguistic, communicative and intercultural skills. The course qualifies students to work in an environment characterized by linguistic and cultural diversity and rapid media changes.
A four-week external internship is a compulsory part of the course. Further practical relevance is guaranteed above all by an orientation seminar with external experts and by a practical writing exercise.
