The accompanying subject Korean serves to acquire knowledge of the Korean language, which leads to oral and written communication in everyday life as well as to the independent development of specialist literature. As a rule, students have no prior knowledge of this language at the beginning of their studies. The accompanying subject therefore introduces the basics of grammar and communication in everyday life and prepares in higher levels for dealing with academic reading, which is necessary to understand the spiritual life in Korea.

The subsidiary subject Korean is to be combined with the BA Asian Studies (core subject): Profile Korean Studies. In the form of the basic modules, the first three semesters serve to acquire basic grammatical knowledge and communication skills, including the writing systems.

This subject must be combined with another subject:

Entry requirements 

HZB (e.g. Abitur)

German language skills (language level GeR C1)

Career Prospects

Intercultural communication, intercultural management, international development cooperation / peace and conflict research, international educational work (adult education, language courses, etc.), politics (policy advice), culture (protection / maintenance / management of global cultural assets, cultural institutions / management, museums, etc.), tourism (Long-distance / educational / cultural tourism), journalism, science (teaching / research at universities, research institutions, etc.)

Incidentally, possible occupational fields correspond strongly with the core subject Asian Studies.
