The subsidiary subject Japanese serves to acquire knowledge of the Japanese language, which leads to oral and written communication in everyday life as well as to the independent development of specialist literature. As a rule, students have no prior knowledge of this language at the beginning of their studies. The accompanying subject therefore introduces the basics of grammar and communication in everyday life and prepares in higher levels for the study of academic reading, which is necessary to understand the spiritual life in Japan.
The subsidiary subject Japanese is to be combined with the BA Asian Studies (core subject): Profile Japanese Studies.
