The bachelor's degree in Comparative Religious Studies in a two-subject model conveys basic and methodological knowledge of religious studies and develops the competence to apply this knowledge in a professional field or for a more research-oriented master's degree.
The aim of the compulsory modules is to acquire basic technical knowledge, skills and methods. Theoretical-methodical and religious-historical knowledge and concrete practical contacts to local religions ideally complement each other and enable individual, in-depth research into individual religions. A focus on the compulsory elective modules makes it possible to coordinate the thematically religious history-oriented elective area with the second subject of the two-subject BA degree in order to achieve - at least partially - synergy effects between the two subjects.
The central aim is to acquire basic religious studies knowledge to the extent that it is possible to study either research-oriented in a religious studies-oriented master’s degree or, in connection with the second bachelor’s subject, to acquire the knowledge acquired in social contexts in professional activity after completing the degree use. The applicability of the course content in professional contexts can be increased by choosing the second subject in the two-subject BA.
