The English-language Darmstadt master’s course "Tropical Hydrogeology and Environmental Engineering" (TropHEE) aims to combine a comprehensive understanding of geoscientific fundamentals with a special focus on application issues that are important in hydrogeology and environmental management. In particular, TropHEE focuses on methods and modern techniques that enable participants to find ways for sustainable development of tropical and subtropical countries from a geoscientific perspective. Although within the broader framework of international development cooperation, TropHEE offers comprehensive, research-oriented training in hydrogeology and environmental geosciences and engineering at a master’s level
After completing their studies, graduates are prepared for the following professional fields and research areas:
Transport and fate of pollutants with specific knowledge in humid tropical and semi-arid areas;
sustainable groundwater protection with a focus on tropical areas;
Planning, design and implementation of groundwater protection areas and catchment areas as well as catchment area management;
Site exploration and remediation of brown fields as well as contaminated water and soil;
