The interdisciplinary Master of Arts in Sport Management is characterized by the imparting of technical, social and personal skills in order to be able to adequately analyze and solve questions and problems in the interface area between sports science, psychology, law and economics. Core competency is the ability to integrate sports science and law / economics knowledge. On the one hand, existing knowledge should be able to be used and integrated for a solution, on the other hand, new knowledge should be generated. The course enables students to find adequate problem solutions for scientific and practice-related issues independently, based on theory and in a goal-oriented manner, and promotes the willingness to reflect and to be critical
Absolventinnen und Absolventen des M.A. Sportmanagement besetzen Positionen, die an der Schnittstelle der Disziplinen Rechts- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften, Psychologie und Sportwissenschaft (Sporttheorie und Sportpraxis) angesiedelt sind oder direkt das Sportmanagement betreffen. Anstellung finden sie z.B. in der mittleren oder höheren Managementebene. Dabei handelt es sich beispielsweise um Positionen in den Bereichen Projektleitung, Sponsoring-Consulting, Produktmanagement, Marketingleitung oder in der Sportdirektion (v.a. bei Verbänden).
Typical employers are, for example, tourism companies, a wide variety of agencies (e.g. marketing agencies, event agencies), media, universities, clubs and associations, sporting goods manufacturers, health and fitness companies, management consultancies and various industrial companies as well as the public service (e.g. sports authorities). There, the graduates occupy various positions at the middle or higher management level, such as positions in the areas of project management, sponsoring consulting, product management, marketing management and sports management.
It is therefore important, in addition to studying, to gain practical experience in relevant institutions at an early stage, to prove one's general suitability for practice and to establish contacts. The prospect of a good position is increased by the willingness to move professionally, also abroad. A good command of the English language is particularly recommended if you have an international focus.
