Programme Structure

 

The Master's course of study encompasses advanced studies of machine technology with selected electives. During their studies, students learn about selected technology fields and are able to bridge the gap between engineering fundamentals and applications in the career field.

With university studies preparing and accompanying them, students complete a practical semester at a school to apply their technical skills together with didactic skills during lessons. Graduates are able to develop and implement lesson strategies with the help of subject-didactic skills and to present them to third-parties. The Master's thesis serves as the conclusion to studies.

  • First university degree, required qualifications according to the examination regulations
  • Proficiency in German

Career Prospects

The Master of Education aims the professionalization of teachers for vocational schools. It qualifies an individual to enter teacher training for vocational schools. Students who study machine technology have good employment opportunities in public teaching service.

Teachers of machine technology at a vocational school teach apprentices for careers including plant mechanics, precision machinists, industrial mechanics, metal constructors, cutting machine operators, and toolmakers.A further field of occupation are fulltime training courses (assistant) and further training (technician, master) such as the state certified technician machine technology assistant, technicians in machine technology with a specialization in plant mechanics, or industrial masters with a focus on metal.

With the Master's degree, students are also qualified for work in the following fields:

  • Scientific work at a university, particular in the field of vocational education and subject-didactics
  • Human resources development, vocational further training and education, professional adult education
  • In institutions and associations for professional education and further development (professional associations or chambers)
  • Professional education institutions and institutions for professional rehabilitation
  • Development of teaching and learning media
