The aim of the “Prehistoric Archeology / Geoarchaeology” master’s course is to acquire in-depth knowledge in various areas of prehistoric archeology as well as scientific methods and subject-specific working methods. As part of this course, the early stages of human history are studied - primarily on the basis of material relics. The field of prehistoric archeology / geo-archeology are epochs and spaces, the history of which is primarily revealed through archaeological finds.
Including the master's thesis, a total of six modules have to be completed in the “Prehistoric Archeology / Geoarchaeology” course, of which modules 3 to 5 are thematically or focussed training units. From this, the students can complete two modules of their choice.

The master's degree in “Prehistoric Archeology / Geoarchaeology” is geared towards the career prospects of a changing job market. It enables a career in research institutes, museums, universities and in monument preservation and also opens up new professional fields (journalism, tourism, cultural administration and management, publishing, private archeology, etc.).
Proof of completion of a bachelor's degree in "Archaeological Sciences" or "Geography" or a comparable domestic or foreign degree.
The overall grade must be at least 3.0 or 7.9 grade points. In addition, at least 24 credit points must be proven in the area of ??archaeological or geoscientific disciplines.
If proof of the first degree is not yet available, a transcript of records with a calculated average grade based on at least 80% of the credit points required for the bachelor's degree can be submitted.
The examination board can combine the admission with the condition that additional study achievements and / or examination achievements of a maximum of 12 credit points are achieved in order to catch up on the necessary basic knowledge of archaeological or geographical methods and specialist concepts. In this case, the course can be extended accordingly.
If the required language skills are not available at the time of admission, enrollment is subject to the condition that proof of this is provided by the end of the 2nd semester.
