Overview

The master’s degree in “Literature Communication in the Media” trains experts in contemporary literature and its communication in the cultural sector. The course is based on four pillars:

  • In literary and media studies research-related teaching, he enables to observe the constantly changing cultural field, to recognize, name and judge new things. Individual and group mentorships ensure close technical support and early internal and non-university networking.
  • In our own teaching department, in internships and in joint research projects with permanent cooperation partners from renowned cultural institutions, professionally relevant skills are acquired that allow one to move in a rapidly changing economic and media environment as well as theory and practice, also in tandem courses to relate productively to one another.
  • Knowledge of literary history is imparted, because the present can only be understood by those who know about its prehistory and have access to comparative material from other epochs and contexts: These are presented in innovative digital formats in cooperation with the Marburg Media Center on the basis of audiovisual materials from publishers, radio, Film and television prepared together.
  • The focus is on German-language literature from the Middle Ages to the present day, but the comparative perspective is not neglected either. In transatlantic teaching and research projects, the international cooperation that is indispensable in the literature business is also practiced and experienced through (digital) exchanges.
