Overview

The Master’s degree in "Endodontology" is a practically oriented, advanced degree program aimed at dentists with at least two years of professional experience. Upon successful completion, the title Master of Science (MSc.) Is obtained.
The students train highly specific working techniques in-vitro and in-vivo in practical exercises. Dental and general medical content and techniques are taught with a focus on endodontics. The results of your own research project lead to a written master's thesis that concludes the course.
The degree provides a very good basis for treatment specializing in endodontics at the university and in practice. The course, which is offered exclusively at Heinrich Heine University, offers a range that is unique in Germany thanks to the university's very good medical infrastructure.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The master’s course is divided into 8 modules, which are assessed with 4 to 16 ECTS points. A total of 60 points are awarded (each with a calculated time investment of 25 working hours). In total, this results in a time expenditure of approx. 1500 working hours.

The contact time is around 50 days of classes, all of which are held in Düsseldorf at the Heinrich Heine University on weekends and in block classes. The parts of the study that are not completed during the contact time are developed in self-learning phases through patient treatment, preparation of modules and the preparation of a master's thesis.

CAREER PROSPECTS

The first German master’s course in Endodontology is a postgraduate course at the “Düsseldorf Dental Academy” at Heinrich Heine University. This course is implemented under the sponsorship of a joint company of the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU), the German Society for Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine (DGZMK) and the German Society for Dental Preservation (DGZ). The scientific management is exercised by a mixed body made up of representatives from Heinrich Heine University, DGZMK and DGZ.

The aim of the course is to enable students to carry out endodontic therapy practically and to evaluate it scientifically and on an interdisciplinary basis.
