The facultative advanced training master’s degree in commercial legal protection at the Law Faculty of Heinrich Heine University is aimed at qualified university graduates in law, both at the beginning of their careers and for practicing lawyers. The course can be completed part-time in 2 or 4 semesters.
The course is internationally recognized through accreditation and ends with the degree "Master of Laws".
The course teaches the relevant rules of national, European and international intellectual property law, scientific knowledge, practical skills and methodology. Renowned lecturers from the judiciary, authorities, lawyers and universities guarantee a nationwide unique interlocking of the teaching content with professional practice.
The curriculum covers the areas: trademark, design, copyright, patent, utility model, employee invention, antitrust, competition and license contract law.

It is possible to acquire the theoretical knowledge for the specialist attorney “commercial legal protection”.
Participation requires a qualified German or foreign exam, professional experience and, if necessary, an above-average seminar performance. Relevant promotions are welcomed.
The professional experience can be proven through internships, the legal traineeship or similar.
The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 25 participants. The selection is made by the Study and Examination Committee.
