The course corresponds to the profile of a scientifically oriented master’s course and includes

  • a team project: three students each carry out an independent research project within one semester
  • a master's forum: as part of a weekly meeting with all students of the master's degree, the team projects and master's theses are presented and discussed on the one hand, and the program of the degree is coordinated, organized and discussed on the other
  • a master's thesis (with a processing time of four months)

In addition, the course includes eight master's courses that deal with political, social, economic, legal, historical and cultural aspects of “governing the EU” and the “integration of European societies”.

The English-language master’s course in European Studies is a new and innovative course that connects Europe with the Middle East. In terms of content, the focus of this course is the question of how the European Union works and how it has managed to create lasting peace in Europe, which has been torn by war for a long time, through everyday, practical cooperation.

The course is basically open to all prospective students who meet the entry requirements. However, it is primarily aimed at students from the Middle East who have completed a one-year postgraduate course in European Studies in their home institutions after completing their BA.

  • The master’s degree is aimed at prospective students with a bachelor’s degree (good and very good degree) in social sciences, law, economics, history or cultural studies.
  • Before prospective students can take part in the one-year master’s course, they must have achieved a bachelor’s degree, the standard period of which is four years, as a master’s degree requires a minimum of 5 years of study.
  • Prospective students must have successfully completed courses in European Studies, the scope of which corresponds to a total of one academic year (60 CP ECTS).
  • Good knowledge of English (level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
  • Basic knowledge of German is not required, but recommended.

The following language certificates are accepted as proof of English language skills (level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
