PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The teaching master’s course with subject 1 chemistry is studied with subject 2, whereby the teaching-related subject combination is specified by the previously completed bachelor’s degree.

The modules in the table below are expanded by modules from the other subject. The educational science modules listed in the table are completed once, regardless of the core subject and module offer

The structure and course of the course are regulated by the course and examination regulations. It contains detailed descriptions of the content and qualification goals of each individual module and an exemplary course plan. The study and examination regulations define the type and requirements of the examination performance of the modules and the master’s examination. In the regulations, the credit points (CP) for each module or event as well as the workload in hours for the entire course are specified.

The master's thesis can be completed in the specialist field, in educational science or in the subject didactics of subject 1 or 2 and should show that the students are able to work on and present a research task independently using scientific methods. After successfully completing the study program, the university degree Master of Education (M.Ed.) is awarded.

The subject didactic modules are organized according to the table below. It should be noted that the so-called practical semester takes place in the 3rd semester, ie the students are from 1.9. until January 31 both as an intern at schools and - to a limited extent, included in the seminars accompanying the practical semester at the Free University of Berlin.

Subject-specific modules: Students choose modules with a total of 10 CP (subject 1) or 15 CP (subject 2): B. Metal chemistry, non-metal chemistry, bio-organic chemistry, physical-chemical concepts of color / colors / dyes, synthetic concepts of polymer chemistry, quantum theory of atoms and molecules, chemical experimentation techniques for schools, professional scientific presentation, chemical reaction kinetics, theoretical chemistry, Molecular dynamics, environmental chemistry: air / water / soil, coordination chemistry, organometallic chemistry, advanced synthetic methods.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To be admitted to the master’s degree in teaching, applicants must demonstrate the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree related to this master’s degree with an integrative study of two subjects and professional teaching related to teaching (educational science and subject didactics), or an equivalent other university degree.

The teacher training-related subject combination from the previous Bachelor's degree must be retained. The core subject of the bachelor's degree is studied as subject 1, the modules of the bachelor's degree as subject 2.

CAREER PROSPECTS

Graduates have in-depth scientific knowledge and advanced professional skills.                             

A successfully completed three-year bachelor’s degree and a subsequent two-year master’s degree with one and a half years of preparatory service lead to the office of student councilor.

In addition, the other subject can also open up further opportunities with regard to the occupational profile and career opportunities.
