Globalization, reduction of the vertical range of manufacture, new information and communication technologies as well as the formation of cooperative networks and cross-company Industry 4.0 are currently ensuring that logistics is in a unique state of upheaval.
Logistics as an independent research field is still very young and is steadily gaining importance, both in the top management levels of companies and as a social challenge - from pharmacy delivery to the central bus terminal. To understand logistics as a cross-sectional function in the company and along the supply chain, a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach is necessary.
In this way, a holistic view of the phenomenon of logistics can be realized right from the start - starting with the development of a sustainable strategy via the "tool set" processes and methods for the management of systems and resources. In the second semester you can also choose between industry-specific specializations or the area of ??insurance, customs and foreign trade.
In the interdisciplinary master’s course, you will develop competencies in the fields of economics, law and engineering. As "highly specialized generalists", logisticians integrate different perspectives on the design and processing of supply chains or supply chain and operations management:
You will acquire competencies with which complex logistical tasks can be recognized and assessed, engineering and business management approaches can be developed and holistic solutions implemented. You will learn to assess, apply and further develop scientific methods for solving logistical tasks in order to pursue technical and scientific progress in research and development.
This enables you to independently work on demanding logistical tasks in research and in the development of new products and processes and also to critically classify scientific findings and to act responsibly.
The academic degree "Master of Science" also enables you to do a doctorate.
