Overview

Our three-semester master’s course contains one semester with modules such as civil engineering or geotechnical engineering, which are binding for all students. In the other two semesters, one of our two fields of study must be selected.

We offer the following fields of study:

  • Planning, construction and maintenance of structural facilities of the infrastructure (course "I")
  • Structural engineering (subject "K")

In each of these two fields of study, the knowledge and skills required from the previous degree are expanded and deepened. With the master’s degree, graduates have in-depth analytical and methodological skills and are able to deal with specific problems in their field of activity in a technically sound manner, including more sophisticated scientific procedures.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The master's degree in civil engineering is intended to enable students to acquire in-depth analytical and methodological skills and enable them to deal with specific problems in their field of activity in a technically sound manner, including more demanding scientific processes, and to take on management tasks.

The course has an application-oriented focus, with the two fields of study differing in their objectives due to the requirements of professional practice in civil engineering.

Graduates of the master’s degree in civil engineering work primarily as engineers who plan, supervise construction or organize plant operation in planning offices, construction companies, associations, state and municipal building, transport and environmental administrations as well as in planning, construction and operational departments of transport companies be.

Infrastructure: plan, build, maintain

Focus: networking of applications in connection with infrastructure measures

In the area of ??infrastructure, the focus is on the interdisciplinary processing and support of projects. Here, not only the areas of planning, construction and operation of new construction measures in the area of ??infrastructure, such as traffic routes, water supply and disposal, are taught, but the focus is also placed on the maintenance and renewal of infrastructures.

Structural engineering

Focus: subject-specific specialization in the field of structural engineering

In the field of structural engineering, in-depth technical and scientific knowledge and methods for the design and calculation of supporting structures are conveyed. This includes, for example, methods of non-linear structural engineering, skills in bridge construction and composite construction. Working on projects enables students to work scientifically and independently deal with complex, demanding tasks in structural planning.
