Overview

The course makes students fit for dealing with competitive markets, complex environments, changing financial market structures and complex legal frameworks.
In the Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (B. Sc.), Students acquire specialist skills, learn scientific working methods and methods, as well as knowledge of the practical application of the theory they have learned. In projects they learn to work together with other people and to achieve goals together; they learn what is necessary to survive in an intercultural environment and they understand the economic and ethical relationship between business and society.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

In the first four semesters, students acquire basic skills in business administration, economics, business law, mathematics / statistics and business informatics. In the fifth and sixth semesters, the students choose two areas of focus from a portfolio of nine areas according to their inclinations and interests. You round off your competencies in a differentiated way.

The course is designed to build on each other. The skills taught in one semester are a prerequisite for acquiring the skills in the following semester. For this reason, students should follow the module sequence proposed in the course plan from the 2015 summer semester.

In the first four semesters, students acquire basic methodological knowledge in the following disciplines:

  • Business administration
  • Economics
  • Commercial and banking law
  • Math / statistics
  • business Informatics

To do this, you apply the theoretical knowledge you have learned to practical examples (transfer competence). In addition, the students receive special teaching units for the preparation of a scientific paper and for presentation. They are also repeatedly supervised by academic staff and tutors when preparing presentations and term papers. You can research, read and understand the necessary scientific literature as well as scientifically present and quote. Afterwards, they are able to present their work results in front of an audience. In addition, they can reflect on themselves, but also evaluate the performance of others. The students therefore have:

  • methodical basic knowledge of the respective specialist discipline
  • the ability to create a formally correct scientific work and presentation
  • Self, social and reflective skills
  • Presentation and discussion skills
  • Communication skills

In the fifth and sixth semesters, students choose two areas from the following nine areas:

  • marketing
  • external accounting
  • Management and Controlling
  • Corporate management and organizational development
  • Corporate taxation / auditing
  • Human resource management
  • Vocational training
  • logistics
  • Investment and finance

By choosing, you expand your specialist competencies in certain economic disciplines. Further competencies, such as presentation skills or the ability to work scientifically, are expanded and developed.

In particular, in-depth knowledge of quantitative methods is essential if a master’s degree is to be added to the completed bachelor’s degree. This is taken into account with the new course of studies and the increased expansion of quantitative methods.

Thesis

The thesis is written in the sixth semester. With the final thesis, the competence for scientific work is finally checked. Practical, technically detailed and interdisciplinary: there are many current topics for theses. Students apply specialist skills, use the soft skills they have learned and preferably apply their skills to a practical example.

CAREER PROSPECTS

Our study objectives correspond to the relevant qualification profile required by
companies for young, self-employed employees for initial specialist and
management tasks who want to further distinguish themselves in the professional environment. Project experience and social skills such as the ability to work in a team, rhetoric, presentation skills and intercultural skills round off the professional qualifications of our graduates.

In cooperation with our partner companies from our International Board of Advisors, we regularly check whether the degree program addresses practical requirements.
Depending on the choice of specialization, our graduates find themselves in management consultancies, finance departments, auditing organizations, human resources or marketing departments after completing their studies. Entry into international organizations or other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is also possible.
