Overview

The overarching objective of the course is to acquire expanded practical nursing expertise to take on highly complex nursing, scientific and organizational tasks in the various fields of nursing. The close interlinking of evidence-based knowledge and specific clinical relevance in the course of study enables students to guarantee outcome-oriented health care for users in the respective field of activity.

The course follows the nursing science concept of Advanced Nursing Practice. It is based on in-depth and expanded care and support practice for those in need of care and their families in order to optimize treatment results in a targeted manner.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The five-semester extra-occupational course in Advanced Nursing Practice always begins in the summer semester and ends with a Master of Science (M.Sc.).

The combined course consists of about 2/3 of self-study sections and about 1/3 of face-to-face events. The course content, which is the subject of lectures in traditional courses, is conveyed in media-supported self-study phases with didactically prepared learning letters. In order to deepen the learning content, full-day face-to-face events are usually held in small groups on every second Saturday in the semester, in which the students deepen their knowledge in specific skills lab exercises, case studies and journal clubs and apply it in a practice-oriented manner.

In addition to the face-to-face events, there is a lively exchange between students and teachers in courses and forums on the ILIAS online platform.
