Overview

The bachelor's degree in industrial engineering qualifies students for integrative problem-solving skills so that they can act as an interface manager between economics and technology when they start their careers. Thanks to their broad interdisciplinary knowledge from technical and business management disciplines, they will be able to solve business problems and plan, optimize and implement business processes. You will be optimally prepared for this task through practical and project-oriented training. As part of the bachelor thesis, which is carried out in cooperation with industrial companies, the interdisciplinary knowledge and the methodological skills acquired during the course are implemented in a results-oriented manner.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The bachelor's degree in industrial engineering comprises seven semesters, including a 12-week practical phase or a semester abroad. The course content is distributed almost evenly between scientific, mathematical / technical modules and business subjects. In addition, interdisciplinary modules such as languages ??or projects are anchored in the course of studies. The course of study is modular, the exams are taken during the course after completing the individual modules.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Abitur or advanced technical college entrance qualification or previous training recognized as equivalent and proof of practical work lasting ten weeks (pre-study internship). Evidence must be provided by the beginning of the fourth semester at the latest. However, it is recommended that you complete the pre-study internship before starting your studies. Details can be found in the examination regulations.

CAREER PROSPECTS

The industrial engineers trained at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences have a broad, generalized study profile due to the course of their studies, which nonetheless allows individual profiles to be developed in the last semesters in the direction of “production management” and “technical sales”. This profile formation is not industry-specific, but function-specific. This enables graduates to work in almost any industry, e.g. in mechanical engineering, in the electrical engineering or information technology industry. With regard to their functional tasks, they are particularly predestined for the areas of production / materials management / logistics / quality management and for the area of ??sales / marketing.
